FAQs

How do I clean my rug?
We are happy to say you should only use warm water when cleaning your rugs. LotusFX Fibershield will not allow soil penetration. The Fibershield is added in the yarn manufacturing process meaning it is part of the yarn genetic make-up, so to speak. It is not a topical application like Scoth Guard that can wear down. We also like the fact that are cleaning technique does not require the use of harmful chemicals.

How do I take care of my rug?
First things first vacuum your carpet as soon as you get it to lay flat.  Vacuuming it will make it look showroom new, it kind of perks it up.

We recommend Capture Cleaning Kits (or another dry clean kit) for spot cleaning your Cobalt Creek Rug. If you would like more information on Capture, or if you would like to find a store near you that sells Capture, Click here to go to the Capture web site. Vacuuming cannot wear out your rugs, but soil can. Even with entry mats, eventually dirt and grit can become embedded in your carpet's pile. When that happens, your carpet will become discolored and matted. Up to 80% of the soil in carpet is of the dry particulate type that can be removed with a vacuum cleaner.

It is always best to test a cleaner on an inconspicuous spot on the carpet/rug before applying to the entire piece.

Household chemicals, medications and cosmetics can permanently stain or remove color from your carpet. These household chemicals often are the culprits of "mystery stains" because they may not discolor the carpet for several days or weeks. The best prevention is to keep household chemicals away from your carpet.

The serging around Cobalt Creek Rugs are made from the strongest nylon on the market. Unfortunately, however, it can still be damaged. Damage can result from many things, such as: cutting it with a sharp edge during opening, some types of abrasive cleaning equipment, children picking at it, etc. Therefore, our warranty on the serging is as follows: Customer can ship the rug to us at their expense (usually about $20 to $40, depending on the size). We will then repair the serging for free. We will then ship the rug back to you at our expense. Care must be taken not to vacuum over the serging. If you prefer, it is suggested that repairs be made using a hot glue gun at the first sign of fraying. This will prevent the serging from fraying further.

Why is the rug not as soft as other rugs?
Our rugs are made with STAINMASTER Nylon which is the most durable and longest lasting yarn available in machine made rugs. Super softness equals hair-like fibers that are fragile and break easily. In contrast, our rugs have passed stringent commercial grade testing, compared to other rugs that are thrown away after a few years. These rugs can take the abuse of heavy traffic. In addition, Cobalt Creek Rugs are protected with LotusFX Fiber shield, which repels soil, and means your rug is 30% cleaner than other machine made rugs. The yarn system does not crush or break like cheap import rugs. We want you to enjoy these rugs for years to come.

My rug is not laying flat, what do I do?
Don’t worry this is normal when you first open your rug. We do not sell flimsy rugs. The backing is interlocked and dense (which is a good thing) so it temporarily wants to remained in its cozy curled position; it has a memory of being rolled. Once you position the rug where you want it the fibers will relax and your rug will lay flat. This may take a day or so. In the summer you can lay it on your deck in the sun which speeds this up.

Do I need a rug pad?
We recommend the use of a rug pad. It prevents your rug from slipping and protects your floor from possible abrasions. To save money you can purchase a much smaller pad and cut it up in pieces to minimize the cost.

Are the rugs in the Voices Collection authentic Native American designs?
Steeped in history the collection pays tribute to this respected group of people; and not meant to represent Indian-made rugs. The manufacturer tips their hat to the ingenuity of the Native American and is inspired by their spirit and resourcefulness not only in their culture but also in their art.
